Asking questions is natural for human, we always ask questions in our daily lives ! (How are you today? Do you have 5 min? How did you do this? What do you think of etc.)
But asking questions for requesting feedback is not so natural so here is my check list for you when creating your first survey on Screeb :
1️⃣ Set a goal for your survey !
You might want to know the happiness of your users about a new feature that your team just launched, measure their onboarding experience, collect insights about your users or detect any missing feature in the user journey : we've built 30+ templates to support you and give you inspiration ! Choose one of them of start from scratch.
2️⃣ Ask questions as you would in real life
People are bored with classic surveys, they are too long and not engaging. The survey experience should be at the same level of your product experience you deliver to your users. Use the tone of voice of your brand and make the questions more natural.
3️⃣ People's time online is precious
We all have busy lives so do your users, so make sure your survey is short and concise, we recommend no more than 5 questions. As per our data we know that respondents answers in less than 90 seconds. They will appreciate the quality of your survey and they might want to even help you later by answering to another survey !
4️⃣ Make your survey more personal and emotional:
You can humanize your survey by adding a profile picture, a name and a job title. This helps to create trust with your users and make them engage better with your survey. Our Video/Audio add-on will help you add even more personalisation with your face and voice.
5️⃣ Users are people first not user_ID !
You can add Variable to your survey, this will help you to use User Properties like the First name, Last Name and make your survey more personalized and more contextual. Here is how to do it :
6️⃣ Target the audience you need feedback from
You might want to ask all users about NPS, but when it comes to surveys about specific product feedback you might want to ask paying customers versus free users, or ask specific users based on their activity in your product. I would recommend to use our tracking event or our Segment integration : this will help you to better target based on user events !
7️⃣ Trigger the survey at the right time
You want to provide the best survey experience so you can decide to display the survey based on :
Device, specific url page, after X seconds or minutes, choose the frequency (every 30 days you might need to ask the same question to follow the trends month over month)
8️⃣ Feedback is a gift : Make it actionable and collaborative in your daily tools !
Screeb can be integrated with various tools such as Slack (sharing all feedback in a room), Harvestr (to better prioritize your product roadmap), in a CRM (adding the NPS note to a contact), create a ticket in Zendesk or a conversation in Intercom if the feedback needs some actions.
Don't forget that people give feedback and they expect you act on it.
I believe too many companies forget this part, that why people tend to less answer to surveys: so make sure you integrate Screeb in your tools ! Here is a easy guide about our integrations.
9️⃣ Analyze feedback from your users every week
This is the last part of the feedback process, analyzing qualitative and quantitative answers. You can export all the data in csv, import it in a google sheets , or share raw datas with your data scientist teams so they can play with it ! We are doing our best to make reporting easy for you to visualize and understand insights in a blink!
🔟 Take a coffee, relax and come back to Screeb to check your survey performances!
Based on all of this, you might reach a response rate of 60%! We've got a champion as part of the Screeb customer club who reached 87% response rate !
Will you beat it ?!
Thanks and so happy to have you on Screeb !
